My Favorite Chris Christodoulou's Tracks

Once in a Lullaby

Just as Chris says "My compositions are, more often than not, structured like a film", this music piece is a perfect example for this. Everytime I listen to this, it feels like I am listeting to a story, a sad one.

Fr. Chopin / arr. Chris Christodoulou - Prelude in D flat major

This piece is played in the menu for a mode called Simulacrum, and sounds really peaceful. This Chopin song is also known as the “Raindrop” prelude, and for main Risk of Rain songs, Chris often names them with some association to rain.

You're Gonna Need a Bigger Ukulele

This music plays in a boss battle and you can clearly hear when boss changes its phase. Name is also a reference to a quote from the movie Jaws, and likely a reference to how iconic the Ukulele is within the Risk of Rain media.

Risk Of Rain 2

Main theme for Risk of Rain 2. This is just the best main theme for a game I have ever heard. Chris' reply on one of the comments is

Both Hopoo and I wanted to make sure that when you start the game the music is straight to the point so I spent a lot of time figuring this one out.
Hopoo are the original developers of the game.

The Raindrop that Fell to the Sky

A long track which you most likely won't fully listen in game (Risk of Rain 2) because you are not supposed to spend this much time on location where it plays. On the other hand, it has all the time to build up. Chris says in the album commentary, at the mid-point of the production of the soundtrack he felt tired and even started to think he might not complete the project. But also the need to create something special was there, so this song was kind of an outlet to that frustration.

Lacrimosum

This soundtrack plays after completing the game, sadly without the rain part. It has a bit from ...con lentitud poderosa, but this one is more sorrowful. Name is latin for “tearful”.

Dies Irae

This one and the next track are from a game called Deadbolt, it is a stealth-action hybrid where we take control of the reaper to quell the recent undead uprising. I think this track perfrectly highlights the stealth part of the game. The name of the song is latin for "the day of wrath".

Ashes to Ashes, to Ashes (to Ashes)

Another Deadbolt soundtrack, which is played on the last level of the game. Definitely not something you would usually expect from a last level, which is also a boss fight.
